Bins, bulky waste and tips in Werribee

Useful if you are moving in or out. Collection days, hard waste rules and tip fees are set by the council or government service responsible for your address, so use their official links below.

Wyndham City Council

Wyndham City Council runs household bins, booked hard and green waste collections and the Wyndham Refuse Disposal Facility.

  • Council (general enquiries and bins, weekdays 8.30 am to 5 pm) 1300 023 411

Check your bin collection day Find your bin collection day by address.

Households have a red-lid garbage bin (weekly) and a yellow-lid recycling bin (fortnightly); households with the green waste service also have a green-lid food and garden bin (fortnightly).

Not every apartment or unit development has council collection; some have private services, so check with your property manager or owners corporation.

Hard and green waste collection

  • Who and how much: most households, including renters, can book up to three free collections each financial year, each up to 3 cubic metres; they can be combined. Properties without the standard waste service can buy collections for $111.50 each.
  • Limits: items up to 55 kg that two people can lift, no longer than 1.5 m; at most 2 mattresses or bases per collection.
  • Not collected: building and renovation materials (bricks, plasterboard, asbestos, tiles, fences, toilets) and hazardous waste (paint, chemicals, motor oil, aerosols). Service details.
  • Timing: collections run once a week; the council says the service is popular and recommends booking early. Changes close at 9.30 am one business day before.
  • Book: register and book online (help on 1300 023 411).

Tips, transfer stations and drop-off

Planning a move-out

Wyndham recommends booking early to get your preferred date. Have items collected before your end of lease clean and key handover. If the collection would be too late, take items to the Refuse Disposal Facility (fees apply) or arrange a rubbish removal service.

Moving day in Werribee: parking, skips and unwanted furniture

Werribee is in the area of Wyndham City Council. Here’s what it publishes about moving day.

  • Wyndham doesn’t publish a moving-day parking permit.
  • A skip on a nature strip or road needs a permit held by the supplier (processed within 15 days); on private land, no permit is needed. A roadside storage or shipping container needs a permit from the container’s owner.
  • The resale shed at the Municipal Tip is closed indefinitely, so Council points residents to donating good items and its Op Shops in the West guide.

In Victoria, it’s illegal to put e-waste in household rubbish, so take old electronics to an e-waste drop-off.
