Wyndham City Council‘s 24-hour cat containment rules took effect on 1 January 2026, with enforcement of the full hours expected from December 2026; until then, its 10pm to 6am curfew is still enforced. Council suggests cat-proof fencing, fence-top rollers, enclosures and catios, and shows a roller fitted to a townhouse courtyard fence.

A cat kept inside sheds more of its coat onto carpet, sills and skirting boards. If you rent, take down any roller or moveable enclosure you added before the final clean, and add carpet cleaning for the rooms your cat used most. Consumer Affairs Victoria says rental providers can’t ask for a separate pet bond, but renters still have to keep the property reasonably clean.
