- Put items out by the Sunday night before your week, in one pile on flat ground within 5 m of the front boundary.
- The limit is three cubic metres (a pile no more than 3 m long, 1 m high and 1 m wide), and every item must be liftable by two people.
- Furniture, whitegoods (emptied, with doors taped or removed), up to four rolled rugs or carpets and electronics with batteries removed are accepted.
- Green waste, general rubbish, recycling, building materials, chemicals and paint tins that still contain paint are not.

Since 2019 it has been illegal in Victoria to put e-waste (anything with a plug, battery or power cord) in household rubbish or landfill. The council’s interim Geelong Resource Recovery Centre at 21 Slevin Street, North Geelong, takes domestic quantities of small appliances, TVs, computers and phones free, along with clean glass bottles, flattened cardboard and clean polystyrene. It’s open 8:00am to 4:15pm, seven days a week, but can’t take fridges or washing machines; those belong in a hard waste booking.

Bathroom mould and condensation when you leave a Whittington rental

In Victoria, renters must leave the property reasonably clean, with fair wear and tear excepted, and the condition report from the start of the agreement is the reference. Since 29 March 2021 a rental provider can only require professional cleaning at the end of the tenancy if the property was professionally cleaned immediately before you moved in and you were told, or if it is needed to return the property to its condition at the start, allowing for fair wear and tear.
