Bins, bulky waste and tips in Cranbourne

Useful if you are moving in or out. Collection days, hard waste rules and tip fees are set by the council or government service responsible for your address, so use their official links below.

City of Casey

The City of Casey runs household bins and booked hard waste collections. It does not run its own tip; it lists nearby transfer stations.

  • Council (general enquiries and bins) 03 9705 5200
  • Hard waste bookings (WM Waste Management, the council’s contractor) 9729 9100

Check your bin collection day Find your bin collection day by address.

Households have a red-lid general rubbish bin (weekly), a yellow-lid recycling bin (fortnightly) and a green-lid food and garden (FOGO) bin (fortnightly). Purple-lid glass bin collections (every 4 weeks) start in November 2026.

Hard waste collections

  • Who and how much: residential properties (not vacant land) get two collections per calendar year as part of their waste charges; the address checker shows how many are left.
  • Limits: a neat pile on the nature strip within 3 cubic metres (3 m wide, 1 m high, 1 m deep); items no longer than 1.5 m or heavier than 30 kg.
  • Not collected: hazardous waste (liquids, asbestos, batteries) and building or renovation material (bricks, plasterboard, rubble). Full list.
  • Timing: stack the pile on the Sunday before your collection week; cancellations close at 11.59 pm that Sunday.
  • Book: online or call 9729 9100.

Tips, transfer stations and drop-off

Casey lists these transfer stations run by neighbouring councils or private operators; council service centres take small e-waste items.

  • Frankston Regional Recycling and Recovery Centre (hard waste, green waste and recycling; not a landfill), 20 Harold Road, Skye. Hours: 8 am to 4 pm, seven days; closed Christmas Day and Good Friday. Fees apply (for example a car boot is $44.50 for Frankston City residents, $49 for others); no food, liquid or hazardous waste. Resident rates need a driver’s licence showing a Frankston City address. The Treasure Chest reuse shop is on site. Accepted items and prices
  • Hampton Park Outlook Transfer Station, 274 Hallam Road, Hampton Park: run by another council or a private operator; check its opening hours, fees and accepted items with the operator before you go.
  • Hallam Waste Transfer Station (Cleanaway), 57–61 Star Crescent, Hallam: run by another council or a private operator; check its opening hours, fees and accepted items with the operator before you go.

Planning a move-out

Book your collection week as soon as you know your moving date. Have items collected before your end of lease clean and key handover. If the collection would be too late, take items to a transfer station (fees apply) or arrange a rubbish removal service.

Moving day in Cranbourne: parking, skips and unwanted furniture

Cranbourne is in the area of the City of Casey. Here’s what it publishes about moving day.

  • Casey doesn’t publish a moving-day parking permit. Obstructing a road or nature strip, or placing a shipping container on public land, needs a Public Land Use Permit with 14 days’ notice.
  • A skip on the nature strip or Council land may need a permit (14 days’ notice), unless your contractor holds a yearly permit.
  • Council advises repairing, donating or selling items first and lists options in its waste directory.

In Victoria, it’s illegal to put e-waste in household rubbish, so take old electronics to an e-waste drop-off.
