Condensation and mould in a Docklands apartment
The Better Health Channel names condensation from cooking, showering and drying clothes among the common causes of indoor mould, along with corners and cupboards where air doesn’t circulate. Beyond airing rooms and running exhaust fans, its list includes venting clothes dryers to the outside and cleaning the lint filter as the manufacturer instructs, keeping mattresses off the floor, servicing heating and cooling systems, and vacuuming with a HEPA-filter vacuum cleaner.
If you rent, Victoria’s rental minimum standards require every room to be free from mould and damp caused by or related to the building structure. Better Health adds that if you have kept the home ventilated and mould keeps growing, you should raise it with the owner.
When you hand the keys back, our end of lease checklist takes in bathroom mould removal (ceiling mould isn’t included), the outside of the exhaust fan and the inside window tracks.
Owners corporation rules in Docklands: what they can mean for cleaning
Owners corporation rules don’t stop at the lobby. Consumer Affairs Victoria says they can include requirements to clean the exterior windows and doors of each apartment, restrictions on floor coverings to reduce noise, and rules about drying laundry on balconies or anywhere visible from outside. Ask your building manager which rules apply before your final inspection.
Our end of lease clean covers the inside window tracks, and balcony cleaning is an extra you can add when you book.
Before the cleaner arrives
- Write building codes, how a visitor gets in and where to park in the booking form’s instructions field
- Keep power and water connected until the clean is finished
- Agree the key handover: we can collect keys from your real estate agent or meet you at the apartment, as arranged when you book
- Note anything your condition report recorded, so we know what will be checked
We also clean in Melbourne’s CBD, Southbank, South Wharf and West Melbourne. The full list is on our Melbourne cleaning services page.

Moving day in Docklands: parking, skips and unwanted furniture
Docklands is in the area of the City of Melbourne. Here’s what it publishes about moving day.
- The City of Melbourne’s reserved parking permits cover removalists when off-street parking isn’t suitable. Apply at least five clear business days ahead; residents get 50% off for a removalist outside their own home.
- A skip on a public road needs a skip permit, which the skip company applies for. Reserved parking permits don’t cover skips.
- The City asks residents to donate, give away or sell hard-waste items in good condition before booking a collection.
In Victoria, it’s illegal to put e-waste in household rubbish, so take old electronics to an e-waste drop-off.
