Two sets of rules apply before a dog or cat moves into a Melton rental. City of Melton requires every dog and cat over three months old to be microchipped and registered with Council, with registrations due on 10 April each year. Every renter must keep the property reasonably clean and avoid damage, and that duty covers damage caused by a pet. If a pet has lived there, plan the move-out clean around it:

• End of lease clean: skirting boards, window tracks (inside) and vacuuming and mopping of every room are on the checklist.
• Carpets: add carpet steam cleaning to the same booking or book it on its own. Our cleaners move light furniture only.
• The yard: gardens and outdoor areas aren’t in the standard checklist, so check the condition report and clean up outside before the clean.
