End of Lease Cleaning Services Bentleigh

Cleaners can only reach the skirting boards, wardrobes and floors once a room is clear, so sort the unwanted furniture and the pile of moving boxes before cleaning day. Glen Eira City Council lets each residential household book up to three free collections of each service every financial year: hard rubbish, bulk cardboard and bundled branches (Glen Eira City Council: hard rubbish, branches and cardboard). Apartment residents without Glen Eira bins can book as well, but check with your property manager or owners corporation first, because some buildings have their own rules on where rubbish goes.

Booking a Glen Eira collection around moving day

• Moving boxes: flatten them and tie them in bundles with strong string, up to 3 cubic metres. Book before 5.30pm on Monday, put the bundles out that night, and they are collected on Tuesday.
• Hard rubbish: book between a week and a day ahead, before 5.30pm the day before your street’s bin day. Put items on the nature strip the night before; they are collected on bin day, though some may be picked up the following day.
• Size: no more than 4 cubic metres in total, and no single item longer or taller than 2 metres. Up to 4 mattresses per collection; whitegoods need their doors removed or taped shut.
• Not collected: anything in plastic or garbage bags, batteries or items with built-in batteries, paint, chemicals or empty chemical containers, and everyday household rubbish. Items left on driveways or private property stay where they are.

Old phones, chargers, batteries and light globes can go to the council’s e-waste recycling stations in every Glen Eira library. Leftover household chemicals shouldn’t go in the bin or down the drain: the council points residents to Sustainability Victoria’s Detox your Home program instead. There’s no need to keep any cleaning products back for us, because our cleaners bring their own products and equipment.

If a dog or cat shared your rental, look back at what you agreed when it moved in. Consumer Affairs Victoria says a rental provider can negotiate conditions for keeping a pet, such as not allowing it inside, and that agreed conditions should be put in writing (Consumer Affairs Victoria: pets in rental properties). In an apartment or unit, the owners corporation may also have rules about pets in common areas such as gardens, driveways and foyers. Rental providers can’t ask for an additional ‘pet bond’.

• Pack pet beds, bowls and litter trays before cleaning day, so the floors and skirting boards under them can be done.
• Mention your pets in the booking form’s instructions field, so the cleaner knows where they slept and ate.
• Carpet where a pet used to lie can be steam cleaned as an extra in the same booking.

Moving day in grass pollen season

The Better Health Channel says airborne grass pollens peak in spring. For anyone in the household who suffers from it, its suggestions include staying indoors when possible on windy days or after thunderstorms, showering after outdoor activities where pollen exposure is high, and using recirculated air in the car when pollen levels are high, which suits the drive between the old home and the new one. It points to the Melbourne Pollen Count and Forecast for daily levels, and lists keeping pets out of bedrooms as a way to reduce pet dander (Better Health Channel: hay fever).
