End of Lease Cleaning Services Moorabbin

Most Moorabbin homes are separate houses, but not all of them. At the ABS 2021 Census, 1,852 of the 2,415 occupied private dwellings in Moorabbin were separate houses, 209 were semi-detached, terrace or townhouses and 345 were flats or apartments. Of those 345 flats, 225 were in blocks of four or more storeys. Renting runs across every home type: 694 homes were rented, and 241 of them were flats or apartments.

Handing back a house or townhouse

A separate house usually means more to cover before handover: a garage, a laundry, wardrobes in every bedroom and often a second bathroom. Our checklist includes sweeping the garage, removing internal cobwebs, wiping split-system air-conditioner filters, cleaning window tracks inside and a full oven clean. Gardens, lawns and sheds aren’t on the standard checklist, so read your condition report and sort any outdoor jobs before moving day.

Handing back an apartment in a larger block

If you rent a flat in a block of four storeys or more, the building’s rules shape moving day as much as the clean does. Consumer Affairs Victoria says an owners corporation should make sure every new resident, owner or occupier, gets a copy of its rules. Find your copy before you book, then check:

• whether the lift has to be booked or padded for your move-out, and whether the cleaner can use it on the day;
• where a cleaner can park and unload equipment: visitor bays, a loading area or nearby street parking;
• how the cleaner gets in: a fob, key or code, and who hands it over. Power and water must stay connected until the clean is finished;
• whether a balcony, storage cage or car space is part of your lease, so you can empty it before the clean.

Moorabbin’s drinking water is supplied by South East Water. Its 2024–25 annual drinking water quality report lists Moorabbin in the Brighton–Heatherton water sampling locality, but it doesn’t publish a hardness figure for that locality. Hardness is sampled across groups of localities, and the result for South East Water’s whole network was 15 to 27 mg/L, with an average of 18 mg/L, from 20 samples. The report adds that, to minimise scale build-up in hot water systems, total hardness (as calcium carbonate) should not exceed 200 mg/L.

Whatever the reading, water marks, soap film and grime build up on taps, shower screens and basins over a tenancy, and they’re easy for an inspector to spot. An empty home is quicker to clean and easier to inspect. If your Moorabbin home uses City of Kingston kerbside bins, you get two free on-call hard waste collections each financial year, with extra bookings charged. Bookings close at 3pm on the business day before your bin day, and items must be on the nature strip by 5am on collection day. Booking a week or two before the clean gives the pile time to go.

Kingston won’t collect general household rubbish, garden waste, paint, chemicals or building materials in a hard waste pile, and piles over the size limits are left behind. Large multi-unit buildings with a private waste service can’t use the council collection; residents there are asked to arrange it through their property manager or owners corporation.

Half-used cleaning sprays and paint tins are classic moving-out leftovers. Kingston points residents to free Detox Your Home chemical drop-off events, which you can attend even if your own council isn’t the host, and to Paintback collection points for paint. Batteries should never go in any kerbside bin.

Take your belongings with you rather than leaving them for the agent. Consumer Affairs Victoria explains that a rental provider must store goods that can be sold for at least 14 days and personal documents for at least 90 days, and may charge an occupation fee if so many goods are left that the property can’t be re-let.
