Preparing for your carpet clean

  • Pick up small items and anything fragile from the floor.
  • Our carpet cleaners can help move light furniture. They do not move heavy or bulky furniture and do not provide a removalist service.
  • Power and water must be connected and available at the property.
  • Tell us about stains, pets or recent spills in the booking form’s instructions field.

Carpet cleaning at the end of a lease

If you are moving out, check what your tenancy agreement and condition report say about the carpets. In Victoria, renters must leave the property reasonably clean, with fair wear and tear excepted, and the condition report from the start of the agreement is the reference. Since 29 March 2021 a rental provider can only require professional cleaning at the end of the tenancy if the property was professionally cleaned immediately before you moved in and you were told, or if it is needed to return the property to its condition at the start, allowing for fair wear and tear. Carpet steam cleaning can be added to an end of lease clean in Box Hill in the same booking. Moving out? See moving out and claiming your rental bond.

How we clean carpets

Our carpet cleaning is a steam clean (hot water extraction):

  1. Heavily marked areas are pre-treated to loosen dirt and spots.
  2. Hot water and cleaning solution are worked through the carpet fibres and extracted with the machine, taking the loosened dirt with them.
  3. As much water as possible is extracted, so the carpet is left damp rather than wet.

Keep the room ventilated afterwards and avoid walking on the damp carpet in outdoor shoes. How long it takes to dry depends on the carpet, the weather and airflow.

Stains, odours and what to expect

Steam cleaning lifts everyday soiling and many spots, but results depend on what caused a stain, how long it has been there and what has already been used on it. Some marks, such as dyes, bleach spots or old pet urine, may only fade or may not come out at all, and wear in high-traffic paths is not dirt. Tell us about stains, pets and recent spills in the booking form’s instructions field so we know what to expect.

If something spills before we arrive

  • Act quickly: scoop up solids and blot liquids with a clean white cloth or paper towel.
  • Blot, don’t rub, and work from the outside of the spot towards the middle so it does not spread.
  • Use only a little water and avoid soaking the carpet; over-wetting can spread a stain into the backing.
  • Before using any product, check the carpet’s care guide and the product label, and test on a hidden spot.

Looking after carpet between cleans

Regular vacuuming, especially in hallways and other high-traffic areas, removes grit before it wears the fibres, and doormats at entrances keep a lot of it out. Your carpet manufacturer’s care guide is the best reference for products and cleaning methods for your carpet type.

Carpet cleaning in Box Hill: questions

How is carpet cleaning priced?

From $98.60. $98.60 for the first room and $68.44 for each additional room. Final pricing is shown during booking. A standard room is approximately 3 × 3 metres to 3 × 3.5 metres; larger spaces need to be confirmed with us.

Do you clean rugs, wet carpets or commercial carpet?

Our Box Hill carpet service is for fitted carpet in homes. For rugs, water-damaged carpet or commercial premises, call 1300 280 576 before booking to check what we can do.

Will you move furniture?

Our carpet cleaners can help move light furniture. They do not move heavy or bulky furniture and do not provide a removalist service, so please clear small items and anything fragile from the floor.

Do you remove stains?

Pre-treatment and steam cleaning lift many spots, but results depend on the stain. Some (for example dyes, bleach or old pet urine) may only fade. Tell us about them when you book.

Do I need my carpets cleaned when I move out?

Not always. In Victoria, a rental provider can only require professional cleaning at the end of a tenancy in limited cases (Residential Tenancies Regulations 2021 (Vic), reg 12). Check your lease and condition report. If you need it, carpet steam cleaning can be added to an end of lease clean in the same booking.

Is it dry carpet cleaning?

No. We steam clean (hot water extraction), so the carpet is damp afterwards; keep the room ventilated while it dries.
