Moving out of a Frankston house or townhouse: what to plan for
Most Frankston rentals are houses, not apartments. The ABS 2021 Census counted 15,207 occupied private dwellings in Frankston: 11,159 separate houses (73.4%), 3,082 semi-detached homes, terraces and townhouses (20.3%) and 928 flats or apartments (6.1%).

Soft water in Frankston: what it means for bathrooms and taps
Frankston’s tap water is supplied by South East Water, which buys its drinking water from Melbourne Water. Its 2024–25 drinking water quality report lists Frankston and Frankston South among its supply zones and says most of the water comes from protected catchments high in the Yarra Ranges, with the Victorian Desalination Plant at Wonthaggi used when supplies are low.
The same report gives an average hardness of 18 mg/L across South East Water’s network (maximum 27 mg/L), far below the 200 mg/L level it cites for limiting scale build-up in hot water systems. South East Water explains that high hardness is what causes scaling in pipes, fittings and appliances.

Planning your end of lease clean in Frankston
A few things make the clean and the final inspection go more smoothly:
- Book the clean for after the furniture is out. Cleaners need empty rooms to reach skirting boards, floors and the insides of wardrobes, so the best time is once the removalists have gone and before you return the keys.
- Leave a little time before the inspection. If your agent or rental provider notices something, it is easier to fix while you still have access to the property.
