What one free collection covers
- Up to 2 cubic metres of hard waste (2 m long, 1 m wide, 1 m high), such as household furniture, white goods with the doors removed, carpets and underlay, and electrical appliances
- Or up to 4 cubic metres of green waste, bundled and tied
- Or two mattresses, two bed bases, or one mattress and one base
The council won’t collect anything over the allowed amount. It also won’t take bricks, plaster, concrete and other renovation materials, paint and hazardous chemicals, polystyrene, tyres, gas bottles, batteries, glass or general rubbish.
Maribyrnong asks for the pile to sit in one spot within your property, such as the front yard or driveway, as close to the front boundary as possible, and not on the veranda. Need to cancel? Do it by 2pm on the Friday before your collection, or the free collection is forfeited.
What’s included in an end of lease clean

Before your final inspection
In Victoria, renters must leave the property reasonably clean, with fair wear and tear excepted, and the condition report from the start of the agreement is the reference.
